Default Rim and tire swap

I have a set of Chevy iroc 16 in rims ( same lug pattern) for my 1996 blazer 4x4 what are the biggest tires I can run on my stock 4x4 without problems. I have some 285/75/r16 tires but not sure if they will fit. Any help appreciated

A 285/75/16 is nearly 32" tall, and close to 12" wide. That's pretty much the same height and a good inch or two wider than the 265/70/17's I have on my Sonoma Crew Cab, and I have 4" of lift, along with significant trimming on my fenders to make them fit without rubbing. When I change these tires I'm actually going to drop a touch in size to a 265/65/17 just to have a bit more room.

I'm not sure what year your iroc rims are from, but they likely have 4.5" of backspace vs the 6" on your factory 4x4 rims. You're probably going to rub pretty much everywhere. The worst will be at the rear of the fender-well, but you'll almost certainly also touch the front bumper along with the frame and the sway bar.

If you want to run those rims on your truck without modifications, you'll need to stay at or under 30" tall. Even with a 30" tire you'll risk rubbing at the rear of the front fender when turning. I'd suggest something in a 255/65/16 MIGHT fit without significant modifications, and provide a beefier look.

Thanks for the help. I've got some 225/75 r16 on the rims now so I'm going to put one on the blazer to see how the fit is. I'm thinking your right on going with a smaller tire size maybe 225 or 235 tops. Thanks for the response I'll post what I come up with

Thanks for the info. I haven't adjusted the torsion bars. They are still at the factory level, and have never been adjusted. I had the iroc rims on a 87 El Camino so now that I have them off I'm going to mount them on the Blazer, it had crossed my mind that I may need to adjust the torsion bars ( which is something I have never done before and everything I've read so says
them a quarter turn at a time then inspect the fit. Thanks
