Confirmed head gasket?
I have not heard of them failing very often on these rigs

fix it, it's cheaper then replacing it.

If it actually is a HG then its not hard to fix or expensive if you do it yourself. just start digging into it and remember to take pictures so you know how it all goes back together.

if youre just gonna scrap it anyways might as well tear into it, its not like you can make it any worse

And think of the confidence you'll have afterwords if/when something goes wrong or you want to modify your ride.

Sometimes its not. Depending on how long its had it...water and bearings dont like each other...
You spend hours, money on gaskets,fluids,etc....just to find out a week later you have a bad bearing.....so then you are stuck with money wasted...havin to buy new stuff, and have the bottom end rebuilt. Ive had success on just replacing head gaskets on most. But sometimes you have to bite the bullet. Depends on how much free time you really have.

I agree fix it. It will be good experience, & a point of satisfaction as stated. Fixing vehicle these days is a must. I could buy new vehicles but there is no way I will pay the stupid big money they want. I buy $3000-$5000 vehicles & fix them up. Even paying a shop is way cheaper than a new rig. That is why I buy cheaper stuff. I know there will be some repairs to be done.
We have owned an 04 Trailblazer 4x4 we bought new, the last new vehicle we ever bought. We sold it in 06 & started buying cheap used stuff. To be honest our Blazers are far better 4x4s than the Trailblazer.
