Default Six problems with S-10 Blazer by 1A Auto

Here are six common problems with the 2nd Gen. S-10 Blazer/Jimmy and pick up's according to 1 A Auto. Plus a bonus. This is list of problems and the symptoms and where they are located. It is NOT a Step by Step on how to replace the parts. !A Auto does have an extensive free library of many of these repairs with a video on how to R & R each of these parts.

The list of problems is well known to those who read this forum: 1./ Heater core=dash removal, 2./ Intake Manifold Gasket, 3. / Distributor; cap & rotor, 4./ Front Wheel bearing, 5./ Fuel Pump; filter 6./ 4WD vacuum switch on top of transfer case. BONUS: Vacuum line Junction switch behind glove box. change out ever 2 to 3 years. I had never heard of this last one. He does show how to locate it and check to see if it is full of fluid= BAD ! It will adversely affect your HVAC and 4WD selection. I am going to have to look at this one.

Next also from 1A Auto--100k Mile Service for 2nd Gen. S-10 Blazer/Jimmy and pick up. Subtitle---Tips and Tricks only Mechanics Know.
This is a good list and starts with 1./ Spark plugs and wires, 2./ Air filter Mass Air Flow sensor and so on. This is a different host than the 6 common problems list. It takes a while to get used to him.

And now for the Bonus round ! I am now going to see about looking behind the glove box and see if that 'junction box' of six HVAC lines is good and not contaminated with Transfer case fluid. I have already replaced the vacuum switch he covers as item no. 6 on top of the 4WD transfer case. That one is difficult to get to and it is hard to see it. I hope the junction box is good. This would have been an opportunity for 1A AUTO to make some sales, because I would have bought one immediately. I hate going to a parts supply store and asking for that 'HVAC junction box behind the glove box' and the counter guy looks at you like you are crazy.
Wouldn't it be great to fix your HVAC system without pulling the dash out? He recommends replacing every 2 or 3 years . I am behind about 6 to 9 switches. I don't mind a bit if as long as I don't have to tear out the entire dash ! Let me know what you find. If I do find that six line junction box and post the Part No. and the store and even the cost. Did anyone notice that 1A Auto's Sec. Gen is 1994 -- 2004. where on this forum it is 1995 to 2005. I would think of all people to get the 1st and 2nd Gen of S-10 Blazers and Jimmy's correct, it would be 1A Auto. Oh well, life goes on.
If I go behind the glove box, I will post the part no. and tell you how difficult a job it was. I also hope there is no oil contamination in the Lines.

So are you saying we are wrong?...

The S10 pickup platform changed body style to what is referred to as the 2nd Gen body in the 1994 model year. The suvs did not get the body style change until the 1995 model year. The suv models were also sold one year long get than the pickups. Most places like 1A Auto simply list 1994-2004 for all S-series which is incorrect. A quick internet searches will confirm that... ;-)

No, I am not saying 'we are wrong'. I am saying 1A Auto parts is wrong on those dates. Here's what I said in regards to the dates.
