Default Sloppy seconds??

I have a 2000 Trailblazer with virtually nothing wrong with it besides the transmission. Fresh (this summer) parts include tires and brakes, both front hubs, new radiator, hoses and plugs, cold air intake, coolant resovoir bottle and heater core. Not to mention I just put one hell of a sound system in and had the leather seats re cusioned up front.
My dilemma is as follows: I have to put the truck down and work on the trans this winter. I have an oppurtinity to buy another 2001 LT blazer for $2700 with 96,xxx on the clock. Or my father is offering a 98 altima with only 34,000 miles for $4500. My issue isn't which is the better deal so much as what i might do with the money (budgeted $5400) I save if i opt for the blazer.

If i stay the course and pick the truck, I'll have the knowledge, and a parts mule, as well as some cash to throw into upgrading the trans on my current one, but the odometer is nearing the mark I first started throwing money at my first trans. If i take the deal for the car, I'm out $2700 and I have no idea what's under the hood, but i have a fresher car to sell (betterROI?) once I'm done the tranny.
Any thoughts?
Any wrenches here in Phila wanna take on a full 4l60E rebuild with me?

So i took the blazer...I can't believe how much rust is on this thing, by comparison mine is a gem, but it rides great and has spotless interior albeit cloth... . I do miss my heated leather seats though, anyone know if I can swap them directly into the LT model? The LT's seats are electronic so there is some type of harness down there...

Like Chris said, it should be a direct swap. My brother recently did that in his 2001 Crew Cab S10. His truck was manual seats, but the harnesses for both front seats were under the carpet and he was able to just bolt down the new heated leather seats and plug them in.

cool, great to know. Yeah I had to pass on the Nissan Chris. I really don't think It could make it very long with al the tools i carry to and from work. If the offer is given to me after the build (it ain't going anywhere...) I might jump on it for a grocery getter.
