Default Somone freakin shoot me (or come replace my fuel pump for me) either or

UGHHHHHHHH

Dropped my tank today, took me about 15 minutes. Tore the lower filler neck rubber hose....can't find a replacement without buying the whole filler neck, but i'm sure i can rig something for that.....can't get the dang retaining ring off because it's so damn rusted, so i bought a new one, broke the evap vent on the forward side of the tank, ordered a new one.....what's next break the whole damn tank and start from scratch????

Sounds like you are having one hell of a day. Now,put yourself in my shoes. Imagine driving 4 hours for a transmission. pulling and installing a 400 turbo in a truck, with no lift,in nasty muddy icy dirt while its 30 degree's outside with no help, thin jacket, only to find out the trans you are putting in is bad after its in. after you do all this, spend the last 40.00 you have on fluids, and ujoint on a driveshaft. while trying to get my brother out of jail and worrying on if i can make the rent.

Worse thing that ever happened to me. I will never forget it.

I was there a couple weeks ago.....

BTW i'm doing this outside with no lift, and it's cold here. OH and i didn't pay my rent this month because i needed the money to buy the parts to fix the blazer so i can keep my job. I definately feel your pain.

IF i had a brother, I probably wouldn't bail him out of jail (not knocking you for doing it just my personal preference). there's obviously a reason he's there, and no offence but i know from experience that family will stab you in the back without even thinking about it and more often than not won't even realize they are doing it.

EDIT: on another note, does anyone know how the evap vent valve actually comes out of the tank? I tried to use a pliers and twist it a bit and it didn't budge, i don't want to break the tank so any insight would be great.

All I can say is, "Wow!"

Dropping a tank should not involve all the drama you are going through. I changed my fuel pump out last year and the only problem I had was the fuel fill and vent lines would not pull off the tank nipples. A knife solved that problem and a trip down to the local Napa provided replacements.

You may not be able to get that valve out. Mine was welded into tank. How I fixed it.

Thanks man, I didn't expect it to be this bad, if i have to i will drain the rest of the fuel out of the tank and drill through that valve and break it apart to get it out. It's removable, otherwise they wouldn't sell replacements, however i can definately see that it has welded itself into the hole pretty good so i may have to break it apart to get it out.

Read my thread (i'm not sure where it is at this point) from when i first joined up about the 1870. I believe it tells what i did to fix it, wasn't cheap though.

All this is making me want to go buy an extra tank, put new parts in it, swap it out when needed and be done with it.. I'm seriously considering it.
I still have a 11 y/o factory pump..

Dealership told me they can't sell it without the whole tank. But they did say I can pull one carefully from a junkyard. So I assume it's supposed to be removable
