Default space behind HVAC controls?

hey, first off i just want to say that everything with my HVAC is working perfect beside a slight lack of vacuum from time to time. my question is does anyone know how much room is behind the HVAC controls? i have some ideas brewing in my head and i dont really want to tip my hand as to what so i can do a little bit of adding to my build thread. so yeah, i just want to know if there is any room behind the controls and if there is any, does anyone happen to know how much? 2-3 inches???
thanks in advance guys. (and girls)

My 96 has a good bit of space behind it. I'd say just pull off your dash bezel and check to see if there is space for what you want to do!
