^^ouch. I always wondered about the spectre filter since they are cheaper but claim to be as good as k&n. I personally have a k&n and have no problems or complaints yet

I was thinking about buying one of the Spectre intakes, but just installing a K&N cone on it. Never got why they put that piece on the filter, either. I use a K&N drop in filter, and like it.

Yeah, that black piece holds the filter medium together... That being said you shouldn't remove it, and after saying that... It shouldn't have gotten sucked in. You pay for what you get. I'll never buy spectre especially after seeing that.

Again, I have the Spectre Cone filter in my truck and zero issues. I have been using them for the past 3 years on my wifes car and zero issues.
