I have a 1994, one of the vortec Blazer, and was wondering if anyone else here has swapped out engines before? Same engine is going back in but I wanted to ask where the problem areas are. Everything looks relatively easy but there's little things I've noticed like 2 fuel lines in the back near the distributor that looks hard to get to, etc...

Buddy at the junkyard answered my question but thanks! One more thing, why does my valve covers look real rounded, say vortec on them and have bolts with orange little washers things and the other engine that came out of another 94' 4.3 4x4 Blazer have square, average looking valve covers with none of the above listed properties? EVERYTHING else about the 2 engines are identical, I have them side by side in the garage right now and can get pics of the differences if need be, can I swap my old ones to the new (not blown up) motor and be okay? Mine look better anyway, they're less greasy.

Something else, the little plastic piece that you pour your oil in is straight and like 3.5 inches tall. Mine is curved and about 4.5 inches (when it's cold) and the oil caps won't fit each other, only the ones they belong to. Is this significant or do you think they just broke theirs in the past and replaced it with whatever fit? The only thing I'm worrying about is that this motor wasn't original to the donor blazer and that it was swapped in the past. If it was, I'll need to know in case anything needs changed, ya know?

Well after taking the power steering assembly off, I found that the old, busted engine came out of a Bravada...
