Hello, I'm new so I'm hoping it's okay that I post this question here...
I recently bought a K5 that I'm rebuilding. My plan is to replace the seats with polyethylene/plastic seats on the existing pedestals for the front. Haven't completely figured out what I'm going to do to replace the bench. I'm pretty sure I'm not interested in keeping the original seats. The driver seat is ripped bad enough that the previous owner has a tarp under the seat cover - I'm afraid to even take it off.
The passenger seat and the folding rear bench are in pretty good condition - just very dirty. This is my first vehicle project so I really don't have an answer for this. Can anyone take a look at these pictures and tell me if you think the seats are worth selling - or should I just take them to the junkyard? If they are worth selling - how much do you think? Thanks!
back seat folded up the latch that connects to the passenger rear wheelwell bottom of the bench seat bench seat unfolded This is the lever to fold it up passenger seat - currently lives in tailgate back of passenger seat
If you got somewhere to store them, they are in good enough condition to sell. I know I would buy them if I were looking for seats... no big visual tears, barely any fade, lever look intact and not much rush on the mounting hardware.
If doing a restoration to original condition the nightmare is usually the seat frames.
I've never been concerned on how the upholstery looks as you will have that made new anyways.
Restoring a 63 Studebaker Avanti and the only thing missing are the original front seat frames.
