Tow hitch or built in tow package
Hey guys I'll be towing a Ford Taurus from Colorado to Minnesota in 2 weeks when I move. I've never towed anything w/ my Blazer before. Should I buy just the ball and use the built in tow package in the bumper or should I buy an after market tow system? I'm looking at a Reese 37051 class III/IV hitch for the after market.

Get the receiver hitch.

i agree. if you were towing 5 miles you could probably do good with the bumper ball. i think those thing are only rated for like 1000lbs anyways. also try to get a trailer with brakes. even in my fullsize truck pulling a s10 with no trailer brakes kinda sucks

I could not agree more, a car is not a utility trailer. Better safe than sorry.

After calling around I def need to get a hitch. Sucks the only model that doesn't require mod to the spare tire area I have to drill. I dont even have a drill here w/ me. I hope I can find a nice coworker w/ one.
Now I just need to find the weight of my 1999 Ford Taurus...I think the Blazer should be able to pull it.

Depending on the axle ratio it shouldn't have a problem. But Just like abig84 said, brakes might be a slight issue.

I towed a 16 foot aluminum boat around all summer last year with a bumper ball, but I would not want to tow a car with it (unless it was an original mini, festiva, or a metro).

I just installed the hitch. The spare wont go back in place now though...grrrr
