Towing with my Chevy Blazer

Best go ahead and tow it with the 1500. The basis of my decision is, "If in doubt, better be safe than sorry."

Add up the weights!
But still probably better goingwith the 1500... Especially if you're a 5 speed.
4 quads + trailer is about 5400lbs...

Yeah you would be straining the blazer, so for comfort and control of driving I would take the 2500. All that can add up fast plus the weight of the trailer and people.

RE: Towing with my Chevy Blazer
I towed a 3500# trailer with a 04 Trailblazer for 2 years with no problem. I believe it's towing weight was the same as a Blazer with an automatic.

A Trailblazer is a heavier duty vehicle than the S-Series...

trailblazer I-6 4.2 has more HP and Torque than the 4.3L the difference is where you get the bulk of your torqur curve. It comes at lower rpm's for the 4.3... Trailblazer should be better for towing longer distances. I'd rather hitch it to the blazer to get it out of a bind (mud..etc)...

Never mind about the Trailblazer being a heavier duty vehicle, lol, I just checked the specs, and with the 4.2L, it's rated for 5700lbs...
However, the 5.3 and 6.0L are both rated for 6600lbs...
For towing, you want a lower peak torque... The 4.3L peaks at 2800 RPM... the 4.2L peaks at 4000 RPM... 5.3L at 4400 RPM...
For comparison, the Duramax has 660 ft/lbs @ 1600 RPM

RE: Towing with my Chevy Blazer
4.2L I6 ('02-'05) - 275HP/275FTLBS
4.2L I6 ('06+) - 290HP/277FTLBS (added MAF sensor plus other "enhancements")
So the 4.2L has all most as much torque at 1600RPM as the 4.3L maxes out at... And this is with a stock (detuned) 4.2L that is in the GMT360/370 platform trucks. Overall, I feel my Rainier is much more capable than my old Bravada.

I would take the fullsize, for one because of the distance and mountains ( If there is any) and number two the blazer will struggle with that weight and gulp gas down alot more then the fullsize so all in all the fullsize will cost less to use to tow your trailer and be more reliably relaxing to drive then the blazer!!
