Traded in the Blazer...Bittersweet
I had a 2000 Blazer 4WD LT....pics in my profile somewhere.
It's been more the family truck, I've been piloting my Monte Carlo since I came back from school.
We traded in the Blazer and my dad got a 2011 Silverado Extended Cab 4WD LT black on black coloring.
We only got $3,000 for the Blazer in the trade with 90k miles, but to be fair it felt like it was running on 4.5 cylinders driving over to the dealership (we've had a SES code for misfires), in addition to the brake lights that never got fixed from an old recall, the slight oil leak, and the gas gauge not working (I lol at the thought of them when they find out the gas gauge doesn't work).
We walked out only paying $24,000 + $3,000 trade for a $34,550 truck (invoice was only $27,400ish after the rebates according to Yahoo/KBB)
Also, if you count the All Star edition discount you could argue the truck is worth $36,000, and on top of that they threw in a bed liner for free, and the body color rocker panels on the side too.
We're pretty happy.
However, tears came to my eyes when they drove the Blazer away and I saw it for the last time, and they are coming again as I write this. I learned to drive on that truck, I loved it despite it's faults, so many fun times. I want to cry.
Here's to good times with the new truck. Haven't been on the boards much but they have been helpful and fun on the occasions I've been here. It's been real.

The Blazer was never officially mine, he bought it originally and when I got my license let me use it.
I now have a 2005 Monte Carlo that also came into my hands the same way when we got an Equinox last winter.
It is a pretty sexy truck, it made the Blazer look like a sub-compact when next to it. Hopefully he let's me drive it once in a while.
Also, it's a nice bonus going from a 190 HP V6 to a 315 HP V8 and actually improve your fuel economy from 18 to 21 HWY.

That's hard man! I can't even imagine it! I get upset when the mechanics at a shop drive it to the back to be worked on.
I don't think I'll ever part with mine. Either it's death or my death will be the end lol.

haha same here i was talking to my parents the other day and they said john next time this truck breaks down we getting you a new blazer .
ME: NOPE that truck is staying with me till it dies . or i could be ridein on the frame with no panels =P
I have had people say to me "Why don't you get a newer car or truck?" and I say back to them " No way! Firs of all its been paid for since 1998, it does not owe me a dime in my eyes in fact I owe it, secondly we brought our first born home from the hospital in it and I love it with all its scratches marks and squeaks". I can't fit the wife and 4 kids into it but thats ok thats what my wifes Envoy XL is for.
