Default Trailblazer I6 4.2L

Alright, Im researching the 2004 Trailblazer with the 4.2 Inline 6 engine. 4x4 LS model. It has 56,000 original miles. Yep, only 56,000 miles.

Time to trade in my 2000 Blazer with 212,000 miles.

Speak to me!
Whats the general flavor for the Inline 6 and Trailblazer overall?

Thanks!

IIRC, Kyle thought highly of the engine, especially its power, and liked the platform in general.

My brother likes his. He has the weiner dog edition. He participates and gets most of his info over on Trailvoy.com. From what I understand, they're pretty hard to lift if that's in your plans, but for driving and such they're really nice. Lifting can be done, but it takes quite a bit of work, and dedication to make it happen since there's very little aftermarket stuff available.

Lifting is not in the cards for this truck. I bought a bigger money pit, a boat. So this truck will be regulated to the usual home projects, boat towing duties, and hopefully soon a camper.

I did some research and the general consensus is the inline 6 is a strong durable engine. Plus it'll out tow my Blazer. Nice upgrade it seems like.

Also realized tonight that my oldest son has the GMC Envoy. I didn't realize they were sisters until tonight.

Not sure if the problem has be fixed or not but here in Canada they had major engine issues. Alum. block has the cylinder sleeves pressed in and the sleeve was breaking dropping down the cylinder some were repaired and most were replaced. The other issue I have with them is the price of parts are stupid expensive.

I've known two people with 6 cyl Trailblazers, and the general agreement is the engines are pretty good, better powerband than the 4.3 V6 in an S10. It would be nice to see the 4.2 I6 make an appearance as the base engine for full size trucks. Trailblazers in general are pretty nice vehicles, as well.

I knew someone that put an exhaust on theirs, and it sounded terrible.
