Bert's Automotive on Kingsway 2 blocks east of Fraser. Excellent place! Not the cheapest, but they do excellent work!
After 230,000 km the lockup clutch would start slipping after transmission warmed up. This is common problem on 4L60E as the steel valve in aluminum valve body eventually wears the valve bore until enough pressure is lost allowing lockup clutch to slip. Once the transmission detects slipping it locks out the lockup clutch until next start. ECU confirms the lockup functionality at 80 km (50 mph) in 4th gear. If it fails it sets a PID and turns check lamp on after 3 fails.
Had he valve body reamed out and sleeve pressed in. They cleaned transmission out and flushed cooler lines and replaced all u the joints. $1150 bucks.

Hi all.

So I contacted the only local place I found that sells remanufactured transmissions, for a quote. And a text convo followed. Was no mention on their site about upgraded parts, in their 4L60e. I asked for a list of all upgraded parts it would have, when had I left my phone number. When they texted, they said they needed the vin #for the reman. price. Then, replied
"Would need your core to get remaned. 7-10 turn around time once we receive your core. 3 year 160,000km parts and labour warranty. Labour is reimbursed at $90/hr if failure occurs. MUST be installed at certified shop. $3000 is your cost".
I replied "Thank you, but you haven't answered my question about what all upgraded parts are included.".
They replied.... "No parts upgraded from stock".

Ummm........a REMANufactured transmission......no upgraded parts........$3,000 CAN. ..... 😐
Thoughts, please.

Thanks, but those hands would be going too deep in my pockets. Dealers are dealers. And I don't see how $2,500 would get a good warranty; whatsoever.
