I would swap the motors over. First though, I would get the 97 engine running to make sure that it is worthy of being swapped.

By tail end, he means the tail end of the transmission. To go from 2wd to 4wd with the 700R4/4L60E, you have to remove the tail housing (bolts on) as well as swap out the tail shaft (requires the transmission to be completely gutted as the tail shaft comes out the front of the transmission only).

Yeah, that's why it is advisable to get a transmission from a vehicle with the same drivetrain configuration.

well............when you mentioned that there was potentionally a problem with the "new" trucks trans, and you had said about getting it fixed...........it seemed like you were asking if you should just swap the trans with your good one.

**** and you HAVE to stop posting with BOLD & ITALIC. (am i the only one who finds it a pain to read?)
