Put gas in my Blazer. However, my brother's truck is a different story. He bought two 1st gen. Blazers. One has good body and motor but bad tranny, the other has been wrecked in the front (body panels only). Original plans was to swap trannies, but realized quickly that one was a 4.3 and the other a 2.8 (wrecked). S**t-canned that idea and just swapped dog house from good one to the wrecked one. Put a battery in the truck and it fired right up! Idles good, runs good, drives and shifts good, transfer case works fine; I say drive it! Looks ugly and smells like crap but he'll have to clean it up himself. The guy he bought them from is supposed to paint it for him. Part of the deal. He only gave $300 for both. Plus I get a reciever hitch and spare altenator for mine. I think he got a good deal.

 

used the lift gate on my '98 as shelter for my tools tonight, since the weather people said it wasn't supposed to rain 'til tomorrow sometime.

was busy changing out both front fenders on my youngest brother's '94 Jimmy late this afternoon. figures, just as we get the grill & 85% of the bolts out, it starts to drop small hail. no problem, @ least it's not rain. sure enough, get one fender off, and it turns to rain.

personally, if it was my truck, i woulda packed up my tools for the night. the things you do for your little brothers.

 

I realized that a center cap has gone missing. Either fell off or was stolen.

I also ebayed a small addition to my Blazer. Looks like I better get back on there and ebay a center cap.

 

Didn't do any work on the K5 this weekend... We did use it to pick up a new full size bed for my youngest son on Saturday. The roll bar prohibited the bed from going in far enough to close the tailgate, but it was a beautiful day out so it was fine.

I did get my dad's caddy diagnosed and torn down. Problem - surging idle with Bank 1 & Bank 2 lean codes. O2 sensors confirmed lean condition as well as STFT/LTFT max lean. Diagnosis... Bad/cracked 'plenum' (rubber coupling that connects the throttle body to the intake manifold). $30 part that requires the removal of the intake manifold to replace! Oh well. I'm also going to replace the knock sensor while I'm in there since it threw a code a while ago as well. All wiring checks out fine and with the KS costing $40, it is cheap compared with the labor of removing the plenum again to replace it later.

Took me about 40 minutes to get it all apart and cleaned up. I didn't think that was too bad for the first time digging into the intake on a N*.

Didn't do anything to the Blazer or Jimmy. Have to replace the timing chains , tensioners and guides on my stepson's 97 Nissan Altima, Of course the nore I took apart the worse it got. It's been sitting broke for some time. Really need to get the fender changed on the Blazer.

 

Well changed the rear drums on shoes on the blazer today, first time I've ever changed drums and did it all by myself, fairly simple. While I had it apart I also bought a complete spring kit to replace all the old weak springs. Didn't snap any photos as I was extremely tired from never being able to sleep and just wanted to get the truck back together..

 

I took off my door handle bezles, adhesion premoted them, primed them, sanded them, primed them again, sanded them again, and then painted them black and put clear over the base. Am doing the same with my switch panle today.

 

I checked my tire pressure today. The front tires were filled to 39, and the back were 37. The front tires are clearly marked "MAX INFLATION 35 PSI"... No wonder the truck rode like crap! I backed the front and rears down to 32 as stated in the door jamb. It's much smoother now, and I should see an increase in fuel mileage. Another great job by the dealer who sold me the truck.

I also got my wiper issues fixed by bending the arm just slightly to get the blade closer to the windshield. Works great!

 

fixed the coffee colored oil problem ive had for a couple days. once i noticed the gasket was bad i drained coolant and oil, and replaced the coolant with water. old fella told me that the coolant is what eats the varnish off the bearings and that the water wont hurt ur bearings as much. oil still looks crappy but wasnt doing as much damage....i think. took 8 hours and sucked the whole way lmao
