Oh I'm the same way. I just don't like being without a car, I think. Well, that and I dread the call telling me how much money I have to fork out, haha. Hopefully this time they say the fuel smell issue I'm having is simply something they didn't tighten down or something cheap (free) to fix.

Fuel smell inside the car? last guy that had that issue it was the fuel system leaking

Good luck!

I work on my own cars etc,but that core i was not gonna touch. it was worth the 600 to me after i saw what needed to be done...

No, fuel smell outside of the car. I just had the fuel pump replaced, so it's kind of odd that I would suddenly be smelling fuel towards the back. Because of this, I'm hoping it's their problem and will be fixed without a charge.

I try to do as much of the work on my truck as I can, but with limited space/tools/knowledge, I end up doing mostly just basic stuff. I absolutely refuse to touch a fuel pump/filter/etc however. I probably would do the injector if that goes out, but that's as far as I delve into fuel system issues.

Fuel filter is easy, just 2 wrenches and 10 minutes...but i agree...i hate the fuel pumps too. I bet its the seal between the tank and the fuel sender. Hopefully this is a free fix. let us know.

I've heard horror stories of people kinking the fuel line, rounding off the filter bolts, etc and it's just not something I'm interested in trying. Plus the idea of laying under a leaking fuel line while I install the new filter is not my idea of fun.

Oh I'm not "scared" of it. I just don't want to do anything related to the fuel system if I don't have to, haha.
