Thanks for the tip! I got hung out to dry this past evening in Manhattan... was halfway through the intersection at 42nd and 7th when 2 cars in front of me stopped, and the light turned red... Looked around and there were cameras all over the place. Just waiting for one of those automated tickets to come in the mail.

If I violate a traffic law and a cop catches me... well, I don't like it but you got me fair and square. But using cameras is chicken$#¡t... It's nothing but a revenue source.

Lubricating the pins was a great tip. Last time I did mine, one of the pins was rusty. Traced the cause to a tiny hole in the casting of the caliper that let water into the bore for the pin. Cleaned it out and fixed it with JB Weld.

Also, open the bleeder valve when you push the pistons back. It lets the old, dirty brake fluid out instead of forcing it back into the system. You will have fewer stuck calipers if you do it that way. I also bleed them afterward, even though I didn't open the system, and top it off with new fluid.

Changed all 4 balljoints and replaced a CV shaft. :-/

Always nice when you go to push the CV shaft out of the way and it just snaps in half at the differential end. Replaced it anyway, guess i can't complain, it had 130K on it.

My balljoints don't squeak anymore though!

Drove it form NY to Boston & back yesterday... 200+ miles each way. Didn't get any tickets (Thanks, Smitty!)

SES light had come back on in last few days. Stopped at a buddy's shop on the way out to see what's up. Code reader showed 02 sensor, bank 2, sensor 1 (of course I just replaced bank 1...). Also MAF and CMP sensors out of range.

Cleared the codes and hit the road... Truck ran OK. SES light came back on at around 75 miles. Parked it in Boston for about 6 hours. Started it up to come home... Light stayed out and truck ran like new coming back.

Only thing I can figure is that 02 sensor kicked back in somehow. Strange though that light was out when I started it up. Driving more today, will see what's up...

What did I do to my Blazer today?
Well... I replaced my wiper blades. (easy)
and put on a new 710 cap. (OIL cap, upside down)
Then I got into a huge fight with my power window motor and regulator.
(Check my "HELP" post in "Electrical")
STILL fighting with it!
But it was all sunny out, so I couldn't be that angry!

Peace!
