I've got the tailgate one - 4 door.

Best I've ever had. I had the Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd which had the liftgate. Didn't like it. Wwhen I needed to load long timbers I had to open the glass & poke it through. Now I simply lift the rear glass out the way, cover the tailgate with a blanket & I'm ready to go!. I can get wider items sticking out the back that way & if it's heavy then I drop the tailgate to give more support.

By the way, I'm back from Kangaroo-land.

I know this is old but mine is the lift gate. How can I swap it to a tailgate? Or can I?

I have one of each. 97 4WD 4dr with tailgate and 2000 2WD 4 dr with lift. I much prefer the tailgate.
