What was your worst break down? and how did you get Home !
It was a saterday night after a whole day of partying at my buddies local bar , And I some how talk my wife into 4 wheeling with me . So she drives us to our property that has the main atv/snowmobile trail , then I take over trying not to be to crazy but still have some good dirty fun . We made it all the way to the end of the trail , played in this huge mud hole for like 30 minutes , then turn arount to start heading back towards the cabin . Then all of a sudden we stop real hard , I get out to see what I hit and the hole rear axle came way out and hit a tree . So now I only have front wheel drive , keep in mind I was dragging the frame in mudd pretty much the whole way . We jacked it up and pushed the axle back in and drove about 25 yards and repeaded the process . Till I came to the last hill that was about 500 yards from our cabin , I just couldn't get it to go up that hill so we all walked home . The next day I took the quad and a better jack up and got the axle pushed back (not fixed) and backed up to get a real good run at the hill and made it . So now I had to walk back and get the quad I repeated the steps till I made it to my wifes parents house . Then I had to drive it to my house 8 miles away , to my surprise the axle stayed in pretty well and got me home . What a night , the wife won't 4 wheel with me anymore . And another time we had a party at my cabin and I was giving rides up and down the hill , and one of my buddies called and said to come down and get him because his dodge couldn't make it . He gets in the blazer and I launch the pond dike and land in the middle of the pond kills the truck instantly , so we finish our beverages and I hit the key and the old girl fires right up . Then I proseed to chew my way up the old farm trails to the cabin , and my transmission dip stick blew out and transmission fluid and water was boiling out onto my red hot exaust , FIRE . Don't worry no beverages were wasted in this inferno . It only burnt a couple wires but still started the next morning and drove me home . I still drive this truck to work everyday 60 miles one way . But I do have one heck of a parts list .

My worst breakdown was last summer. Driving down the highway through a construction zone, the lanes merged into a single lane as I drove under an overpass. Orange construction barrels on my left and concrete dividers on my right and two semis following close behind. On a normal day this would have been no big deal. Just then, a loud popping and rattling began and the whole truck began to shake violently. Looked down at the gauges and everything imaginable was flashing at me. I literally watched the oil pressure drop to zero and the temperature gauge rise. I had spun a rod bearing, but since I had nowhere to turn off, I had to keep my foot on the pedal until I got out of the construction area. Ended up getting the truck towed home, and from there, pulled it behind our Silverado to the shop that replaced the engine.
Driving to Orlando to go see a show, Death metal bands, almost there, see the tall buildings, doing a solid 70mph.... POP look in the rear view, smoke everywhere behind us. Had to pull off the road, and i see oil everywhere, look in the engine, cant see anything.... So i said.... Get in, were making it there, and we're seeing this show. So we hop in, chug along about a mile, and arrive at the venue. I figured, since something went that bad and shot through the oil pan, couldnt get much worse, and said lets go.
I knew my engine was done. The owners of the venue let me keep my car there over night, and i had to rent a U haul car dolly to tow it back the next day.

ive been pretty lucky.
i broke my transfercase in my k5 going into the entrance of the place my very first time offroading lol. i just towbarred it to my dads house with my s10, only 2 miles away so i just went slow.
other then that, just fuel pumps here and there

worst was getting t boned and had to get towed....as for a break down this was a week ago
heading to the west coast pulling a trailer i came across the first big mountain pass..came down and was driving in the flats and it started trying to jump gears....stopped to let it cool down and noticed atf a bit low..filled it up and kept going.....worked alright..drove some more and noticed atf low again so topped it up, just starting to wonder..hmm..why is it low...at the gas station i noticed something on the ground....so i stopped and looked under neath and saw nothing coming from the transmission so thought hmm..ok...well transmission not leaking,...didnt see right away where it was coming from,..but dabbed it in my finger and it seemed red like atf..but couldnt see where it was coming from and not from transmission so assumed i must have spilt when i was topping it up...so i drove come to the second pass got to the top and stopped to let it cool down some more and noticed it leaking some more.........noticed it was coming out of the overflow from the coolant...then i was like..hmm maybe it was just coolant and was getting dirty as it flowed down the frame......leaving this gas station i noticed the temp gauge go way up..drove a little bit further away and the blazer was running horrible torque converter wouldnt lock and was running hot..so i stopped to let it cool down...and it hit the red line when i stopped it....then it dropped to zero..so thought..hmm.....checked coolant level and nothing in there..filled with water and took all the water i had and i could hear the coolant bubbling in the motor.....i knew the coolant was overflowing but i didnt know why or how much...so ran into a farmers field with a cooler to fill it up from a sprinkler to fill up the water..so topped it up and let it cool down a bit and went back on the road..luckily our destinataion was all down hill..but kept it easy...torque converter wouldnt lock.......then it wouldnt shift into 4th...put went no faster that 60 kmh the way down to keep it easy..made it into a creepy town and ate dinner to let it cool down and hope it was just running hot..drove and ran ok at first..but started heating up and wouldnt run properly...so stopped at a hotel for the night in a hope to let it cool all the way down and it would be better in the morning..couldnt find a shop that was open to take a look at it..service engine light came on when it overheated when we stopped and filled up the coolant...so wanted to get it scanned and just assumed/hoped it was from the overheat.........next morning went on the road and it was running fine......after 20 min torque converter stopped locking again........finally made it to a garage they scanned the codes and found the transmission overheat and code for transmission slipping........since the overheat maybe 200km was put on as i limped to the garage taking it easy and slow.......they were super busy and couldnt take a closer look...was going to make it the rest of the way to our new home which was all up hill for 100km......anyways the owner of the garage told the mech..ok just check the fluid levels so hes fine to make it there where he can get to another shop.....so they looked found the atf in the coolant and low atf...that when discovered oh....transmission cooler blew up inside the radiator..AWSOME....so ended up getting a new radiator...and put in an additional transmission cooler inline with the stock one...new temp sensor and thermostat..gasket..etc...and atf flush and flush coolant twice with water then once with coolant......all in all was a 1600 bill..they owner of the shop and the main mech tried to cram it all in in one day amist other jobs and unfortunately was unable to finish it by close...i did all i could without making a mess with the tools i had to speed things up before they got the blazer in as well..rad supper..take off grill..etc.........this was saturday......so we go to the shop after killing the day walking around etc since 8am......its now 5pm....so i speak with them they say probably another 2 hours of work left........i go,,ok..well..when will it be done..they go..well..were closed tomorrow so monday..i go....oh **** i have to be there monday...well by the time i had got to the shop the owner had called aroudn for hotels and rental cars and had options for us...said prices of hotels and what were available and rental cars and offered to drive us to our friends house that was 100km away......anyways i said..ok can i pay the overtime and get it done sooner?...she goes....hold on checks with the mech.......comes and says..well the hockey game is on tonight so they wont tonight..but travis (the head mech) will come in tomorrow he has a key to the shop.....shes like..so settle up with me now and then u can settle up with travis whatever you two work out tomorrow............so before we even finished she had a cab waiting for us to take us to the hotel..got to the hotel and found out that she (the owner) had paid for the cab ride to the hotel for us........so next day picked up the blazer and paid the mech 100 cash for the overtime..which was cheaper than what it would cost us for food and another night in a hotel....all in all an expensive repair and unfortunately something i couldnt do on the side of the road......wish i had put the tranny cooler in earlier but **** happens i suppose...needed an atf flush and coolant flush anyways...........was very impressed with the shop they knew exactly what they were doing and talking about and very punctual and didnt **** around...they didnt try to nickle and dime and cut corners...got me to sign off on work before it was done and explain everything and give options to..this is what should be done..but you could possibly cut this out to save some cash although cutting corners not a good idea etc..............also got a picture of the cement floor in one of the bays with 2 names scribbled in the cement..the owners name kelly (kellys garage) and the mechanic working on the blazer travis.....
and bravo to any of you who read that whole thing..haha

The guy never responded. Typical *******. Once i finally agreed on his wishes, he decides no to respond. *** of right now, im trying to get an account with a credit union at my work so i can take a loan for $2,000 out and fix it up. Im pretty sure im going to just either rebuild a motor, or buy a used one.
Blew the rear end out - sheared the pinion of a couple of teeth in the middle of January, and in March, left the 3/4 clutch in Deland Florida comming back from Disney - No warning on that one AT ALL!
Went Richmond Gear and G80 on the rear axle.
Went full out on the tranny, stacked cluthches, billet servo, along with my previously installed billet pinless accumulators, orange box kit from Transgo crazy huge cooler w/electric fan, and what-not. Runs at 160* now reguardless of conditions!
Now, it pulls a two wheeled rooster tail and barks second gear! Love it!!!
Extreme Overdrive(recommended to me by several people) in Jacksonville, Florida built my Tranny and he gave me the keys back and stated, "You can go where ever you want, and pull whatever you want." Nice
P.S. Yes, that is a Dodge Ram in that last pic, yes I pulled it... Up heartbeak hill in the Ice and Snow! LoL!
