Um... they pay the bills so you can get here for free? If I'm getting something for free but they want me to look at ads, I'll do it.

The ads are a bit misleading. Ford's 6.7 diesel tows as much as a Class 8 (Class A is the license required, not the vehicle class) semi? Yeah... I'd love to see an F-Series pull what I pulled when I ran a 21 axle combination.

Well, we're talking about a vehicle weighing about 150k empty, and we could throw almost 300k on top of that. I'd love to see the Powerstroke take that on.

right on....but that seems like a lot of axles for only 150k. unless its only 4 tires/axle.
i do alot of work with a dual lane trailer that normally only has 8 axles and configured for 16 foot wide and we put on average almost 300k lbs on it. and it has 8 tires per axle.....so you figure is 64 tires, not counting the pull truck. but it is wide!

I'm more impressed by what a truck can pull UP hill. I've seen videos of someone pulling a semi or train by hand. On flat ground, it isn't that hard.

Advertisers get creative to make things look special. My favorite is Toyota uses the term "multivalve engine" every few years. Any 4 stroke gasoline engine is a multivalve engine.

150k is the empty weight of the combination. It's just that, once it's configured, you pretty much have to keep it that way once you're empty, because if you loaded the jeep and stingers back on, then you'd be too heavy for the axles which were still on the ground. I never really dealt with dual lane trailers, but the width factors into the bridge law formula, which is probably why you're able to have so much weight in what I'm assuming is a comparatively compact space as far as length goes compared to a 19, 21, etc. axle unit.

Yeah, fancy wording... but the way Ford words these ads is particularly misleading. The add saying their truck can haul as much as a "class A (sic) semi" isn't necessarily lying - indeed, the guy was able to beat them as far as cargo length with the roof mounted rack on his truck... but he wouldn't have been able to match them in weight.
