Default will a 2 ton jack go high enough?

Excuse me if this is a stupid question. But Advance AP has a 2 ton floor jack and I need a jack... so... just wondering if you think a 2 ton will raise up high enough for a stock 93 s10 blazer 4x4 to get the wheels off the ground?

it depends on the jack. Some lift a lot higher than others. Some might lift 15 inches others will lift 30 inches. What i do is use a small chunk of 4x4 on top of the jack.

I never used the one from advance but many like the one you are talking about. I always had to use a block to raise it up enought to get the tires off some times two.

You need to look and see how HIGH the jack lifts. There should be something in the specs that tells you that. Normally, anything that has greater than about 25" of lift will be fine. Otherwise, do as others have already stated and use some wood to get that extra few inches.

Wow, just looked at the specs on the jack and it says lift range goes to 14". I think I would need more than one 2x4 under the jack just to the wheel off the ground.

Here it is from AAP website for reference:

http://tinyurl.com/yekzxyk

I was hoping it would have been enough as I rarely need a jack but need could always increase as I do (learn how) to do more of my maintenance and was wanting to get from AAP so I could use the $10 off $25 coupon.

I been stocking up on oil using the coupon so figured I'd try to get a deal on jack stands and a jack.

The only other floor jack I see on their site is a 2.5 ton. I have been looking at jacks at a lot of places and don't understand why a 2.5 T is triple the price of a 2 ton LOL

I think I found my solution:

21 in lift height.

You could go with a long frame floor jack. It's range is from like 5" to around 31". Only really problem is storage, tends to take up a bit of space. Mine is a 2-1/2 ton capacity.

i had a 2 ton jack but it didnt go as high as my new 2.5 ton i have now... I am a dangerous diy mechanic and used the plywood/brick sandwhich method on my old jack just to lift my trucks... the lift foot print was tiny too, my new one is the size of a small dinner plate

I used this method with jackstands when i did balljoints on my 98 haha.... nothing like hearing the wood scream for mecy while its smashed between the frame and a brick

When my gf first bought me my jack and stands and etc it would raise the wheel about an inch off the ground stock height 4x4 2004..This is a autozone 2 ton floor jack. Well after the torsion lift, shackles and 31s I have to get one of those flat big bricks to put under the jack to get the same lift
