Default windshield wiper issue please help

I am not sure where to post this.so if anyone can help me I would appreciate it.. when my windshield wiper is turned on.the drivers side wiper.swings freely all the way off my windshield.I have to manually swing it back to start position..Anyone know if the entire unit is shot or is there a part I can get to fix this? Appreciate any help...

i had an issue like this one time, my drivers side blade wouldnt move but i could see the motor was still working, given your motor is still trying to move it perhaps the teeth in there need to be cleaned up, i took the arm off and cleaned up the teeth with a metal file and it worked after that.

it also could just be the nut holding the wiper to the rotating arm is loose happent on my 2001 silverado work truck put it in the off position and tighten the nut should fix your problem :P

Thanks guys I ended up youtubing this yesterday it totally turned out that aluminum from pivot point in arm had worn off into the teeth of the steel in..I scrapped all the aluminum out with an exacto and thn tightened the nut down good.Its good as new..Thanks or your time though guys appreciate it much..
