General Chat Chat about all things Blazer (and related vehicles). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

Would you do this?

1999 Blazer

I really wanna go start this blazer and see how it runs. they said its probably a head gasket so i would imagine its blowing smoke, idk how worried i should be about it "heating up" because these engines dont really warp.. so if i threw the right grille on this and did the head gasket i could probably make a little $ off it. plus it would be fun to do lol

But i like how this person says "not the vortec" huh..?

Seems a little suspicious to me. I would keep looking. Something tells me there are a lot of hidden problems with that Blazer.

i had a friend buy one where they pulled out the engine and replaced with the old tbi 4.3. I would get pics of the engine.

its not the vortec bc the grill on that is pre 98, and guaranteed its not the vortec bc A) its not a 99, or B) he swapped an old engine in, i would not for the life of me buy it and i need a car, you can tell it needs work

Dude, talk him down...... he's asking 700...try like 300. If you got it for 300, you could part the body out for double. or scrap it for more. Worth it.

Didnt they start the vortec motor in 93 and 94? Just wondering since Ive had a 92 with a carb. engine, and then a 93 with a vortec. So why would it matter which year it was to decide the motor?

Probably they dont know what 'vortec' means.
I has to be a 99 cause that's what they advertised. Easy enough to see from the VIN.

That truck is essentially the same as a Bravada... ie all the interior options. Would resell well.
Worst case, change engine and do the obvious. It's worth more than 500 if the body's looking good.

"Its Mileage Is Barely Over 10000"

surely he means 100,000

front tires look to be bigger, even though the rear just looks flat. Depending on how long hes been driving it like that. 4wd might have issues too.

I wouldnt pay more then 300-400 for it. running ones are going for 800-1000 down here.
