Lightbulb zombie blazer

I decided to turn my blazer into a bug out vehicle. so i have a question for everyone. If you were to build your blazer for the apocalypse, what you put on it? Its my daily so i cant exactly do metal plates over the windows or anything crazy like that, but what would you carry with you? what mods would you do? just wondering what other people would do to get some ideas

there's no way in hell I'd want to depend on a blazer in a rough world. If I knew 'the big one' was coming, I'd go find a 77-80 Dodge Power Wagon or Ramcharger. Those were tough 4x4's with bulletproof drivetrains and simple design throughout... by engineers who thought ahead at the idea of servicing. About all you'd need to keep that thing running for 20+ years is an extra ballast resistor and ignition module.

The 95-05 Blazer is like a good looking woman in high heeled combat boots... It looks good and acts the part, but it aint got the "stuff" which isn't a slight - it was never designed to be that type beast. I've had Fords, Dodges and Chevys, just calling it like I know it to be.

honestly if the big one came a vehicle wouldnt help you out for long.
1. draw attention to you as you rolled thru
2. emp (granted older vehicle will help - less elctronics)
3. older vehicle...parts will be harder to scrounge up
4. would have to be diesel to open up fuel options.

just my first thoughts. if the big one comes your best bet is to stock up on real good shoes...gonna be alot of walkin in your future.

If you want some ideas on building a crazy survival type Blazer check out Steinbruchsoldat's build thread. It's really long, but he did some amazing fabrication with his Blazer.

to say the least

Now I am not saying this to offend anyone, but I think the people who actually are serious about preparing for a zombie Apocalypse, are more scary than the thought of an actual zombie Apocalypse.

I can't speak for the OP, but while I think zombie games, books, movies and such are fun, they are just such. On the other hand much of the same zombie preparedness things apply for emergency preparedness. Having a 72 hour kit. Having a plan of where to go if your home is not habitable due to a disaster (potable water, sewer, lack of food, etc). All those kinds of plans are valid and prudent. Stocking up on guns, ammo and machetes so you can blow the heads off the undead is a whole different ball game.

I like my Blazer and all, but I don't think it would be the best. A Hyundai is from what I hear... I would find an old multi-fuel military 6x6. No power, but run forever on near anything.
