Keep at it, Hanr3 already told you my recommendation... You wouldn't think a trans could be stuck the tight to an engine, especially with everything loose, but they can be pretty rough, believe me. I was just working on a 700R4 auto taking it out of an old rusty 88 K5 Blazer with a 350 engine, and it took me several days to get that loosened up. I had another problem than you though, which was someone had already been under there tinkerin around and left me a broken off bellhousing bolt to contend with. But even after I got that out, I still had a big problem trying to get the two apart because of the rust and the dowel pins, those suckers can really hold on believe it or not. The pounding is the only way to break up the rust, once you keep hitting that bar through the crack, it will def come on down. Don't give up man, don't get discouraged, and like Hanr3 said, don't break nothing. You don't even have to knock yourself out pounding, just steady tapping and go on up. You'll get it out of there.
