Default 95 4.3 vortec ?'s

First of all I want to say this is a great site with lots of usefull info. This is my 1st question and I know some one on here can help. I am trying to find a motor to replace the 4.3 vortec in my wifes blazer. the one in her blazer has the flat distributor. I found a motor for a good price, but it has a small round distributor. Does any one know if the motor with the small round distributor would work in the blazer i have. The guy at the junk yard said no. Any info is appreciated and welcomed. Oh my wifes blazer has a W in the vin for the motor code.

If you wanted a used motor, I do believe that if you were to switch your entire distributor over you could use the motor. But I am not entirely sure.

Thanks for the info ... I had checked with Jasper but money is a little tight right now. The motor I was looking at only has 80k miles on it and the guy wants $450 for it.

I will do a little more looking and see what I can find out about changing the distributor out. That was my thoughs too.

Swap all the sensors, and the intake as well. Before you drop money on a used engine, make sure your intake will swap over, or make sure its the same injection system as yours. Geta warrenty. You should be able to find a crap load of 4.3L in the salvage yard. GM put them in just about every light duty truck/suv/van.

If your going to swap the intakes, you will need an engine from '95 or older. GM changed the bolt mounting pattern in '96. Take a look at a '96 or newer intake manifold bolts and compar them to yours. The angle they go into the head is diferent. The intakes wont swap between the two.
