95 blazer 4x4 problem
hello I am new this site, and usually the forums are very informational. I just recently aquired a 95 blazer 4x4 and notice that the 4x4 switch won't go into 2h and I grounded the 13th pin to see the switch flashes and it flashed twice paused and again twice might anyone know what this means?
I have a 94 Blazer w/an automatic & 233 transfer case. I assume your 95 has an electronic shift 4x4. If so they should be the same. If you get a trouble code 2 when you ground pins J & A then code #2 is an encoder fault. The encoder switch is not servicable. It is located in the Transfer Switch Motor assembly on the transfer case. If the encoder is bad, (it has to fail 25% of the time to store a fault code)you should only be able to shift from 2 wheel high to 4 wheel low. The encoder tells the TCCM what position the transfer case is in. You probably need to replace your electric transfer case motor assembly. They cost around $200.00 unless you go to a dealer who will charge you around $400.00-$500.00. Check ebay Ive seen them for under $200.00. Also make a quick check of your fuses. Believe it or not make sure your 15amp radio, 5ampTCCM, 15amp Turn/Bu & the 30 amp power acc. circuit breaker are good. All those fuses supply power to various systems needed to control the 4x4 electronics.
PS other fault codes for the 4x4 are #1 Ram stanby power lost, #2 encoder fault, #3 TCCM motor circuit & #4 RAM/ROM Failure. Good Luck !! John
T0 clear 4x4 troble codes remove the 5amp TCCM fuse for 2 1/2 mins, then cycle the ignition 5 times to clear codes. I replaced my transfer motor & its working fine now.
