dealer cost for instal ignition switch

Default dealer cost for instal ignition switch

My dealer is telling me becasue my security light stays on and sometimes wont start, it is both the cylinder and ignition module(switch) total cost for both well over $500, am I being ripped off. It has not been diagnosed by pc just auto tech. 99Blazer 4wd

quoting from my best friend who is a manager at a Chevy dealer:

I think thats overkill
chances are its just the passlock
which is part of the ignition switch
unless the cylinder is damages and pins are stuck

can they replace just the passlock by itself, or is it one part (the ignition switch)? I tried retraining the passlock, to no avail.
