Engine Missing
Ok so I did spark plugs and wires and only then did I start to have problems. When driving on the highway just cruising around does it then start to miss. If you go on the gas it doeesn't only when you are coasting along at high speeds. Any suggestions?
One thing to watch out for is the plug wires working themselves loose. New plug wires have a tendancy to trap air in the boot on the distributor cap. This trapped air will, over time, try to force the wire off the terminal. My cousins Neon did this very badly and it was difficult as hell to diagnose. I finally used an ice pick that I have to press into the end of the boot when putting it on the terminal. This would allow the air to escape and allow the boot to effectively vacuum itself onto the terminal.
This problem can be made worse by putting dielectric grease on the terminals and in the spark plug boots because it allows the wires to seal even better.
Give it a try with a very small screw driver or anything long and slender that you may have to slide into the boot with it on the terminal (try not to scratch the plastic). Allow the air to escape and remove the tool.
Also, don't rule out a bad plug wire in the new set of wires. Manufacturing defects happen all the time.
Good luck and keep us posted.
