Default How many miles before rebuild?

Just a question here. My 99 has 136,XXX on it and I was wondering how many miles a decently maintained engine will run before needing a rebuild.

These engines seem to be well designed as far as the moving parts go. I do have some reservations on the fuel injection system though.

Anyway, just curious if someone has experience to share on this subject.

Every motor is different, But I would say with a well maintained 4.3 you're looking at a minimum of 200K. There are tons of Blazers for sale on auto trader with between 175K-225K. My 1996 Jimmy I just bought (for $800) has 219932 as of this morning. Still runs great and will be a good winter truck for me.

Mine is in remarkable shape for what I paid for it. Only thing is the huge amount of mileage. It needs a few things, But over all I feel I got an excellent deal. I had to put a fuel pump in it right away as it wasn't running when I got it, But know every thing feels pretty strong. I'm going to do a little front end work and a waterpump this weekend and it should be good to go.

The 4.3 is a great engine if properly maintained. My cousin's blazer was clocking in at 200K when he sold it. The gentleman that purchased it ran it over 100 miles a day round trip to work. This was a few years ago, an as far as I know it's still running strong. A guy that I worked with had 265K on his. Everything else will break, but the engine will run strong for years if you take care of it.

All depends on the maintanance.

My last 4.3L lasted 286,000 miles before I totaled the truck.
I just swapped a engine in a '93 that had 195,000 and spun a bearing.
My '00 has 130,000 and no signs of trouble.

Take care of it, and it will last.

My 1994 has 199,000 on it now. Still ok, no oil burning and still strong. Mechanical parts however do wear out but as long as they are replaced when necessary and maintaned as scheduled, then the answer could be indefinite.
