Default How to remove a Door panel for speaker

This may seem like a silly question, but I don't like to break things:
I have a '99 Blazer, and one of my rear speakers cuts in and out. I know the door panel can be popped out around the bottom, but is there a trick to lifting it all the way off? It looks like the speaker was rivited into a cardboard cylinder somehow. I figure all I need to do is get to it and secure the wires better. If you press on the door panel, the speaker works.

Look for a couple screws on the door handle (the part that you grab to close the door while sitting inside the truck)

No, I didn't get it off, but haven't had much time to spend with it. My door must be different than the person who first answered my query; there is only one screw on the plastic trim behind the door opener, and the part I grab to close the door is all part of the door panel moulding. Most of the panel is held on with plastic push rivots. Use a plastic spatula or similar to pry the panel off most of the way around. Mine has electric door locks, and there seems to be something in that area that holds the panel on still. It should lift straight up when it is loose.

I figured, since time is precious to me, I will simply take it to a car stereo installer and tip him to check out the speaker, reconnecting it in the process.

Let me know if you figure it out before I do.

on 98 and newer blazers, there are two bolts under the door handle, instead of the door pull. I believe they are 7mm as well. and for the panel with power locks and such, put a small screwdriver under the top, nearest to the window and pry gently upwards, and it will pop up. then just disconnect the harnesses. there is a screw in the door lock area,a nd the rest of it is just clips. if you break a few, they can be bought at a parts store for about 5 bucks for 16. Also, put window all the way down, makes it easier to put door panel back on.

they also make a door panel peg pullin' tool... (Man that's a mouth full) it's looks kinda like a little prybar but it has a notch cut in it to slip around the peg so ya don't tear up the door panel board and more likely to get the pegs out in one piece... they get nice and britle over time and like to snap off... but your local auto parts usually has a selection of them in stock for ya...
