removing rear deflector
There was a post somewhere recently about removing the rear dust deflector blade on the early 90's Blazers. How do you do that? I see two plastic lozenge-shaped things that could maybe be pried off, but I don't want to do it if I'm afraid I might break something. I'd eventually want to put the deflector blade back on. But I might want to buy a ladder or some lumber and secure them to the luggage rack, and the deflector blade would be in the way. Or maybe it could withstand the weight, I'm not sure, I just know it wasn't designed for that.
someone said that he just got the hinges off one that didnt come with the deflector from a junkyard. i don't know if theres a temporary way to do it, im not really sure cause i got a 95 (new body style) blazer.
you can take the blade off by popping off that plastic cap and removing the two screws on eack side. Now the post that it sets on will still be there. The only way to get rid of them is to change the whole hinges.
If you put too much weight on the wing with lumber and stuff you will blow the back glass as I did.

Just pop those 2 plastic caps off and undo the screws, the blade will come right off. As far as the 2 pedastals that it sits on, they're part of the hinges.

Thanks so much for everyone's advice on this. Good to know I can pop those plastic caps, undo the screws, and slide the blade out and replace it later. And I will definitely not put any weight on the blade and blow the glass! I might have tried it if you hadn't told me that.
