I have a 2001 4x4 blazer. The truck doesn't work in reverse and it will only shift from 1st to 3rd skipping 2nd and it won't go in to overdrive or lock in the torque converter. When in reverse you can hear something, maybe transmisson spinning but not engaging?? What could be the problem? faulty shift or tcc solonoid maybe?
Also the 4wd won't engage, when you push auto, 4 hi or 4 lo all it does is flash any reccomendations?
Thanks for any help

it sounds like a solenoid, mine did the same thing when I accidentially broke the 12 shift solenoid, my truck threw a code though so look for that to happen. make sure to also check your fluid.

can you tell me where that solenoid is located? I have heard that there is something to do with the transmission under the dash somewhere. also, is the 12 shift solenoid the actual name?
thanks for the help

the shift solenoid(s) are located directly underneath the tranny pan, there are a few of them, the shift solenoids should be the same part # but they control different shift points. There also a 3 2 downshift and a torque converter lock tcc solnoid as well. Again I'm pretty sure the pcm would detect if any of these were inoperable. The unit under the dash your thinking of is the tranny control module and unfortunately I haven't any experience with one.

You broke your reaction sun shell.
Rebuild here
This is how you broke it.

See how there are no teeth to mess with the gear. Yep you did the same thing. Good news is you don't need to rebuild the whole tranny to fix it, bad news is you might as well. You have to pull the tranny from the truck and you have to take it apart to get to the Reaction Sun Shell. When you buy a new one or get it rebuilt, have them install a heat treated new one.
I had a thread on this board at one time about my rebuild. Search for it, or maybe someone can find it for you. It was around the beginning of the year. You could say I have been there and done that....[sm=guilty.gif][sm=oopssign.gif]
