Default 2nd gen cold air intake stud?

i bought an aftermarket coldair intake for my 99 jimmy 4.3... it mounts with 3 spacers instead of the factory wingnut and tab thing. i can get the front 2 spacers installed but i am confused on the rear spacer. the instructions tell me to remove the factory stud spacer and screw on the third one from the kit instead. well i took out the factory stud and it came out all as one piece. the instructions also note that if it comes out as one piece i should separate it because it is really 2 pieces screwed together. it doesnt look to me like it comes apart, is there anyone who has installed a cai and has ran into this issue and has some insight? also, the fit of the intake tube over the throttlebody is super tight, anyone have any tips for that?

thanks
justin

It will come apart lock the top half into a.vice and get a thin wrench to fit the nut on the stud and it should separate. also, try some grease on the o-ring or a little oil rubbed on with your finger should do the trick. U want it tight to keep it sealed.
