To each their own I guess....but never to me!

Saw a prius with an HKS catback very interesting, he actually passed me.

I have absolutely nothing for Toyota's, hate them all! Except for one, but my buddy totaled that one :/
The only stipulation that I want for my new muffler when I get it is that its a direct bolt on to the exhaust that I have now. So correct me if I'm wrong but aren't stock size mufflers 19" long? And I should have 2.25" exhaust pipe if the whole thing is stock size still. I know that everything from the muffler back was replaced by the PO, so I assume that stock size was used.

The Walker stock replacement muffler is 2.25" in and 2" out, meaning 2.25" to the muffler but a 2" tailpipe. Not only is that restrictive, it makes a bad sound when you put a loud muffler in. You said you wanted it to sound like a 4.3 and not a 4 banger, then after the y-pipe cut everything off and run a single 2.5" pipe all the way back, including tailpipe size because that'll give it the deep throaty sound you want, small pipe is gonna sound terrible. You know why a lot of trucks sound bad, the guys out in small towns with straight piped trucks? Well besides the lack of mufflers, they run dinky little 2" pipes so they don't have the deep rumble they should.
Do yourself a favor and do it once, go with 2.5" pipes and be done with it. That'll mean you'll need a new cat when upgrading size, but to counter that cost go with a $40 Thunderbolt highflow cat and scrap the OEM cat, you can get that $40 back from a metal scrapper. Then with that highflow cat, I recommend a Thrush Welded muffler which is like a Flow 40 but half the price, which if you do a quick search you'll find most guys on here have (Flowmaster) and are very happy with.
If you can't afford it right now, then put in a cheapo $15 glasspack so you'll hear it for now and open up the exhaust a bit, then save for the full 2.5" exhaust. Your truck will thank you once it can breathe with that 2.5" pipe on it. Also, if the Walker muffler you have now is still good, try and get a few bucks for it on craigslist or ebay, get even more money back.

Good plan. I'll go buy one of the cheapo Thrush glasspacks and put that on, then that gives me a good muffler to sell. And that will give me more money towards the whole set up later down the road. Thanks 88Vic!

Ok, I'm really pissed off right now....
I went and bought the Welded muffler like you guys said, and I get it home and go to take my old one off, well first off the retards that owned it before me didn't even know how to thread a bolt and I ended up breaking the whole side of one clamp off, and when I got the other one off, the muffler would not budge.
Then to make it worse, the retards that owned it before me clamped, AND welded the damn thing on....NOW WHAT?!
I just can't even believe how freaking stupid these people were that owned it before me....

You are going to have to cut or grind it off . As far as breaking the clamp , they rarely come off like they go on . Are you sure its welded though , even though the clamp is off it will be very difficult to separate the two . The best way probably is to cut the muffler pipe make a little cut in the pipe then hold it with vise grips or good pliers and turn it and it should fold up and slide right out (if its not welded).

No, I just looked at it quick when I couldn't get it to budge and thought that it was welded on the side of it, but after I looked at it I just saw that it was crimped on top of the clamp. Its got a single crimp in it and thats weird though because if they were to crimp it the opposite sides should both be crimped but thats not the case. After I couldn't get the damn thing to budge, I loosened up the whole rest of the exhaust and took it off the hangars so I could wiggle it.
Couldn't really get it to budge much after that, but after working at it for a few hours I got some movement out of it.
I got a flathead screw driver and a hammer and started pounding the thing in between the exhaust pipe and the muffler and started to peel it back like a banana, and before it got dark and I had to quit, I had half of it peeled back almost all the way, and could wiggle the whole rest of the exhaust, but it still wouldn't come off. Its just hanging free now. I'm gonna have to work on it tmrw after I get off work and see if I can peel the metal back the rest of the way so it will come off.
After I get the whole rear exhaust pipe and the muffler off, I'm gonna take it inside and undo the back, which has a lot more play in it, and get the pipes off the muffler, so I can then put the Thrush on and get the exhaust back on the truck....
God this is a pain in the ***! If I only had cutting tools.....too late now
