Default Cold Air Intake on Ebay

Hey guys,
I'm new here. I've got an 01 s10 4.3L v6 blazer. Everything in it is stock except the sound system. I'm looking at cold air intake for my first real mod. After reading around on here it seems like there are a lot of people who are pleased with the ones they got on ebay. I was looking at this one. It's the cheapest one I could find. I'd really appreciate some feedback on it before I throw away 40 bucks.

Heres the link

*EDIT by swartlkk* - Fixed VERY long link.

Crappy filter and the seller doesn't even know what size engine the s-series trucks have... LOL No heat shield either...

Unless you plan on building your own heat shield and getting a better filter, it won't do any better than the stock airbox.

God dammit.... I'm can only find one TRUE cold air intake but i'm not prepared to pay that much. I can make my own heat shield so thats no biggie. What would you suggest for a modest price? oh... thanks for fixing my long link. sorry. [sm=smiley9.gif]

You could build your own intake if you wanted to save money.

Whatever one you could find in your price range. Some people may disagree with me, but a CAI is a CAI. I don't believe brand really matters in the world of intakes since they all practically do the same thing. the only major difference is the air filter used and this needs to be of good quality.

Real K&N CAI

No-Name CAI with K&N Filter

Volant CAI

Injen CAI

AEM CAI <== IMO, the best one out there

Airaid CAI

No-Name CAI with Heat Shield

these are the main name brand CAI's along with a few ebay ones. its your decision on which one to buy but, as mentioned countless times, its all but useless to use one withouta heat shield to block engine heat.it would also be a good idea to buy one that replaces the accordian tube on the stock intake and ideally, one that replaces everything from the throttle body to the filter (with the exception of the MAF)

yeah, LS and LT are just different trim models. LT's usually have some extra features and nicer interior and different wheels. everything under the hood is identical

unless by "ls" you meant like an LSx engine. these CAI's will not work with an LSx engine... lol

That K&N that otnietdehoooo linked to is actually a good price. You can click on the picture in my signature for a How-to, but it does not go completely to the throttle body. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a generic kit off eBay like the no name one for the piping, use my own shield, and buy a high quality non-oiled filter.
