Here is the video as promised it sounds a lot better on video than in real life. revving up the motor leads to crackling. I guess it is not my thing anymore I don't mind noise on a V6 Grand National or a v8. Big noise from a 4.3 with no power adders just don't cut it for me I guess.

Hey Bill, have you had it at idle & ran your hand above & below the exhaust & checked for leaks? Try that from the collector at the Y pipe all the way to the back of the muffler. I thought I heard an exhaust leak somewhere when you were under it. You did say the previous owner had rat chit welds all over.

Yup it is sealed surprisingly well I typically ask someone to plug the exhaust for a gag and slide under on a creeper listening for leaks. I guess all of the JB weld bugger welds and muffler patch that is caked around the joints paid off. Some people may like the sound just not me reminds me of a early 60's straight 6 pickup I once had with no exhaust.

I don't mind noise when I am on the gas but slow takeoffs are way too loud on this. strange part is over 60mph its not terrible but 25mph it sounds like I have no exhaust go figure. Think I will just chop it in front of muffler and replace that with a 3 chamber setup of the proper size pipe. It looks like the muffler on it is is 2.5 and then tapers back to a 2.25 stock pipe.

Hey what do ya expect I only paid $1500 for the truck

Well i did it again, lol, i changed my exhaust for the.... 6th time now i think, may be more, lol. Bought a "Full Boar Single Chamber Race Muffler" off ebay. The Exact same as a flowmaster 10 series, litteraly, only a different brand. But it seems to be quieter on idol than the glass pack was, but under acceleration its about just as loud, but its got a deeper tone to it than the glass pack. I like it alot better, theres a good chance i may keep this one, lol. Hoping to film a vid this weekend.

Anyone know of a muffler shop in metro detroit/ann arbor mi that will install a high flow cat? I cant seem to find a shop that wont just cut and splice a uni-cat. All they want to do is install the whole OEM y pipe and cat. A $600-$800 price. I really need to have a custom exhaust done from cut out cat back.

What do you all think about the super 50 series and instead of running the exhaust all the way out, I was thinking about doing turndowns at the rear axle. Would this create any real issues? Would it sound bad? I have heard the 50 series on the 4.3 and I think ti sound real nice and deep like i want. I am just wondering if the turndowns before or after the axle will matter.
