Dirt bikes are generally 2 strokes which require a much lower exhaust velocity to run efficiently, which is why having a tuned exhaust works much better. My friend I sparr with has a 2 stroke mini chopper and he couldn't figure out why it was running like crap, the previous owner installed some 2.5" loud pipes and that killed the velocity. It sounded great after it warmed up and idled by itself but lacked power, so we put on some 1.5" pipes and 2" tips and it ran almost twice as well, didn't sound quite as good but ran a lot better, it revved up a lot faster through the gears.

I agree %100. If you have a vehicle set up for the drag strip you want as little back pressure as possible since you will be in the upper RPM's the whole time. Had electric cutouts on my Camaro that dumped it after the headers. Was a tick quicker at the strip but changed the low-end torque a little as well.

Yep. I wouldn't want to suffer any more power loss from the already anemic 4.3 and certainly would not want to shift the torque curve up and take away from the low-end "umpf".

Thanks guys! I guess I just haven't been looking in the right places. I usually just stick with JEDS or Summit online and didn't think of O'Reilly's..ill have to take a look.

Hasn't any one on here figured out how to put twin lines on these things yet? I know there's not much room getting by the transfer case

and who says no one has?

it's really not that difficult, even on a 4WD truck. but why bother? you'll end up hurting what little "performance" these trucks come with.

you find better results with a properly flowing exhaust.
