It looks like in theory this would work as a heatshield, but I have my doubts. Thoughts from you guys?

Not bad.. I thought some of the cheap ebay intakes come with that type of heatshield. I could be mistaken tho.

i think that it would help a little, i mean, you look at almost any k&N filter and it comes with some sort of divider from the rest of the engine but those also have some sort of waetherstrip on then to seal against the hood so i would believe that the chrome shield would block out some heat but not as much as the k&N one. For what it cost i would give it a try.

Yea it may help a bit. But as far as being a heat shield, no. whats preventing the hot air from going around it? Its really just not allowing the hotter air in from the top. All the air around it is still gonna be the same temp as without it.

Just my 2 cents!

Thats basically what I was thinking when I was debating why it would or wouldn't work. I'm still on the fence but I'm teetering towards a "nay" vote.

why don't you contact one of the sellers of a full intake and see if they will part just a heatshield?

Please don't sick Rosie on me, its merely just my opinion!

Never thought of doing that, good idea. I'll putz around on the fab your own heatshield threads and if I think I can't tackle it then I'll do as you suggest. I just figured for $8 if this would work then why not save some time.

Haha, no worries, only the most dastardly of fiends will have that behemoth of a creature sent after them. (I can't call it a she or I'll get sued by women's rights organizations for slandering the images of women worldwide)

CIA's are a waste. Find a good stock intake and go with a good wix paper filter. K&N's suck.
