Thought some people would like to have a look. New K&N intake plus a custom Magnaflow exhaust for my '96. Did some tooling around on the beach in Corolla, NC. OBX rocks. The new exhaust is basicly a magnaflow 18' 2.5' offset in center out muffler with all piping from the flange back changed to 2.5' topped off with a 3' rolled stainless magnaflow tip. Had it done all for about $240 and change. Definate mpg improvement.

Sounds good, I like it. I am in the market for a new exhaust soon so I like hearing what others sound like.

 

I will say this, it is very quiet at idle and while cruising, but when you get into it, its nice and throaty. There is very little in cab resonance, just a tad louder inside than stock. If you want volume you might want to go with another setup. But the gas mileage is certianly improved with this setup, and there is better pedal feel, you can tell it breathes better.

 

What would you suggest for a louder, still free flowing exhaust? Just wondering if you had heard or seen something that worked real good.

Heck, I get the same highway gas mileage now as when I first got it (now I have 30" tires and my brushguard)

Well Magnaflow exhaust is known for peak flow, you could try one of their racing mufflers, if you wanted to stick with their universal fit, basicly the shorther the muffler and pipe the louder you will get it, mine is a 5'x8' oval, 18' long muff, they do offer the same in a 24' long model if u like your ride quiet. I would also advise going with larger diameter pipe if you want a deeper tone, thats whyI upped from 2.25 to 2.5.

 

Thats sounds really good! Thats the same setup i have, just need it installed, just about had it done today but they wanted 400 bucks to do it!
