i would go with an aftermarket system before i ran straight pipes on a 4.3, now i have heard a 4.3 with open headers and it was killer, but i dont like the straight pipe sound and open heders isnt really a logical option

i have a 94 with headers to a x pipe to glass packs to dual tips the x pipe helps maintain back pressure while at the same time keeping true duals all the way. the faster you can get air in and out of your engine the more power you will make

I have a flowmaster camaro crossflow muffler on my truck. I really like the way it sounds, and it gives me dual exhaust tips.I will post a sound clip as soon as I have a chance.

Here is a link to an exhaust sound clip of my truck on youtube.

The tone is actually deeper than this in person. My digital camera doesn't record sound right.
