I think it ain't nothin but a scam. I just don't see how something that forces the air into a "vortex" really helps. To me it seems it would just further restrict the engines breathing by having that thing taking up space in there. Come to think of it I think Mythbusters tried it and it failed

Im a HUGE fan of mythbusters...i dont know how i miss this one!

Scam. Devices like this have been proven by many different sources to not make one bit of difference. Any 'vortex' that they would create all the way up above the throttle blade would be nil by the time it got anywhere near the valve.
Couple that with the fact that the 4.3L engine has always had the Vortec cylinder heads in one form or another that actually creates this phenomenon as the air enters the combustion chamber and not by using a little sheetmetal device in the air duct, but through intake runner and combustion chamber designs...
