Y-Pipe?
Hello all,
Could someone explain to me the difference in having a downpipe and a y-pipe. I assume they are close to the same thing, and obviously connect the manifolds/headers to the cat. I looked at my downpipe and it looks like there is a nice bend in it that will restrict air flow because it jabs into the tube, and I am curious if a y-pipe would get rid of that.
I plan on buying a magnaflow cat with dynomax cat back exhaust system. Would i be able to directly hook a y-pipe from the manifolds to the new cat? How much would a y-pipe cost, where could I find one, and why is the y-pipe better?

The only thing I can tell you is SLP used to make a y-pipe or our trucks but stopped some time ago. Your best bet is the get a shop to make you a custom y-pipe. I dont know about the cost but others on here should be able to tell you.
