2" body lift + 2" shackle lift SHOCKS?
I have searched all through the threads and found many things on 2" lifts. Just couldn't find an exact answer to my question.
I know there are some on here that have a 2" body lift and a 2" shackle lift with T-Bar crank. My question is will I have to change the shocks if I do a 2" body lift and a 2" shackle lift? I hate to buy new shocks and then when I want to lift it have to buy new again. I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy 4 door 4x4. Any advice would be great thanks.

No, you don't have to change shock's. I have this done to my 96 2dr and did not have to change them.

no you won't have to because a body lift doesn't affect the shocks. and the shackles and tbar isn't that much higher. I upgraded my shocks. I have rough country 2-6 inch lift shocks it flexes more since my shocks won't bottom out as easy

Ok. Thanks guys. that's what I thought but wasn't 100% sure.

Green Blur How much total lift did you gain with this kind of lift? Have you had any ball joint or cv joint problems with it?

i still would get some offroad grade shocks like some rancho rs-5000's or bilstines

You don't HAVE to change your shocks. However, it would be a good idea. Rancho makes a nice 1-2" lift shock that would do the job.

Lift shocks.. do they lift the front 2 inches..

I think they mean lift shocks as in shocks for a lifted vehicle. A longer shock basically. And no, they wouldn't lift your front end. You have no shocks in the front! haha, You have torsion bars, thus the tbar crank

No shocks in the front? Really... You mean springs? The main reason most people get longer shocks with bigger tires isn't because of the factory being too short. Rather get them if you offroad really strong. Cause if you drop off a step, and the heavier tires can overextend (right term?) the shock and stress it. But I've got a 1 1/2 inch add a leaf, 3 inch body lift and about 1 1/2 t bar crank and in daily driving, the factory replacement shocks from Advance have been fine.
