RE: lift
Guys, thanks for the correction, I was aware that the 2" kit is not worth it, I just got my reason wrong.... so what do new upper control arms do??? anything?? or is it just a way to make more money??

RE: lift
New upper control arms let you be able to align the wheels, and correct the balljoint overwork that lifting with the stock arms causes. The 2' kits used to come with shock relocation brackets so you didn't need the longer shocks (and to prevent shock top out), but it would appear the balljoints were a much more pressing issue than shock position.

So, how big of a chore is it to do a 2" body lift?

Sexy
I think you can handle the body lift then..
On the 98, its a little more involved than just the mounts. You have to cut and extend the fuel filler neck, notch the rear bumper, notch the front valence, loosen a whole lot of ground straps and body clips, and flip the oil filter around (and install a drop bracket...but very easy). Its more time consuming that difficult. You have to loosen and remove all the previous mentioned parts...then jack up one side, install spacers but not tighten bolts, go do other side and tighten bolts, then come back to the first side and tighten. Then its all getting everything lined up and reconnected.
Ive got one thread on my install here with some info, and heres the OFFICIAL DIY BODY LIFT THREAD.
