I had some of the same questions. I just got my lift and will soon be getting bigger tires. I dont want theblazer to be sluggish. Im not exactly sure what gears to go with. I think I need 3.73 with 31" tires.

I have Yukon 4.11 front and rear gears on my truck. The rear isn't that hard but the front is tough. You do need a press for the front to install some parts to the gear. Make sure you get a master install kit as well.

Another option is going with a ford explorer 8.8 rear end. It is a complete bolt in. Only difference is the u-joints on the drive shaft. Just have to get a new u-joint to fit. (I forget the number off hand) They are cheap, easy to find, and a hell of a lot stronger than the 7.5. They also come stock with 3.73 or 4.10 gears. I found one out of a 2000 ford explorer with a 4.10L and 80,000 miles for $100 that I'm going to go pick up this weekend.

I am planing to do the samething with the rear being a Ford 8.8 and my front being a D44 running 4.56 gears. This sit has a great brake down chart for tires and gears. http://www.s10extremist.org/tech_art...tio_Guide2.htmMy set up will be a Daily Driver, Best Overall Performance, with 35" tires and 4.56 gears.
