Default SAS and SOA

Hey, I'm going to do a SAS and a SOA on my 1999 4dr Blazer. I would like to upgrade the axles while I'm doing it. I'd like to get a GM 10 Bolt for the front and a GM 14 Bolt for the rear. Are there any GM/Chevy vehicles that have both and that are between the years of 1973 and 1988? Thanks in advanced

why a 14 rear and a 10 front, I would go with a 14ff in the rear and D60 or a D44 in the front.

Dana44 is basically the same as a 10 bolt. My front axle is made of parts from both.

You would have to find a 3/4 pick up for the 14ff/10bolt. For the sf 14bolt. The later 2500 suburbans had them. Like a 90-91

I thought all 14 bolts for that year range had full floats. I was only going for the 10/14 combo because I was wanted to keep it within the GM family. Also using the 10/14 combo would make it to where i only have to find one donor vehicle instead of two. Would a Dana 60 be a better option for the front end? If a Dana 44 is interchangeable with the 10 bolt what does it matter? Are the GM10's and Dana44's stronge enough to safely run 35" tires offroading?

yea you're safe running dana 44's with 35's a lot of people with jeeps upgrade their front and rear axles to dana 44's, you can find those on older wagoneers, and full size comanche's I believe. you can also look at getting a ford 9 axle they are fairly popular and interchangeable with the dana axles

Youll have to change your transfercase if you go with 10 bolt front. 10bolt is passenger side drop, to use factory transfer case you need axle with driver side drop.

If this is going to double as a daily driver, you may want to reconsider full width axles, unless your state dont have any rules with tires sticking out from fender.

Thanks for the help guys, I didnt know the 10 bolt was a passenger side pumpkin. So a 44 for the front and and a GM14 in the back sound good? Based on what benedict and big84 said my understanding is that the GM10, D44, and the 9" are all interchangle able. Is that correct?

Research it alot more then just buying up axles. then once your down researching, and you think u got an idea...do a little more. 10 bolt and 44 are bout the same. think he was more referring to 9" being one that is used quite a bit.

just a generic answer though, if your gonna go all out and do 14 bolt 1 ton rear, might as well find a 60 to do 1 ton front.

9 inch is only a rear axle but for the front 10bolt. Dana44 and 60 all have the same mounting measurements. So if you do a 10 bolt front you can later do a 60 without changing anything in the suspension. I'm running 10 bolts front and rear on my 93 s10 with 33 14.00 boggers. Been beating the heck out of it for about 3 years and haven't broke anything
