I am new to this site and am having a bit of trouble navigating through it. But, anyway. I have a 98 blazer 4 door, that I want to lift, but the right way. Any suggestions?

Torsion Bar Crank and 2" shackles. 60 bucks should do it if you install yourself. There are TONS of guides on the forum for it.

As long as you buy a store bought kit, you'll be doing it the right way. You could get a 2 inch body lift that has everything you need including brackets to lift your bumpers for around 200-250. Add in shackles like Captain said and free t-bar crank, you'd be at about 4-4.5 inch of lift. Enough to fit 31x10.50x15 tires fairly easy. Same tires as the ZR2's run. All in all 250 kit+ $60 shackles+ say $60 alignment after the t-bar crank= $370 for the lift if you install or get someone to help you, maybe add in some more for thier help. If you have a shop install it all you might as well double that amount, if not more than that. It'd be much more affordable to do it yourself.

seriously?!!

i think we spent maybe 1 1/2 to 2 hours doing the 3" BL on my friends 2 door '94. and that included cutting & moving the bumper brackets. even installed a roll pan to hide the ends of the frame rails out back.

So if I was to get the 2 in rough country lift would I have to modify my y pipe on my 96 blazer?

Wouldn't waste my money on the RC kit read far too many posts from people about their torsion keys snapping, keep it simple spend $50 on a set of quality shackles crank your tbars 1.5" MAX and call it done.

I heard that cranking the t bars is bad on your suspension...plus the 1.5 in the front wouldnt give enough clearance for 31's

the 2" rc kit isn't enough for 31's either, you need tbar/shackle lift and body lift unless you plan on nothing but pavement pounding then either one will be enough.

No... Only time you need to modify the y pipe is when you drop the front diff down when installing a 5" or 6" lift kit. The 2" RC kit comes with new keys, control arms, and shackles.
