torsion keys...
ok im new to wheeling and i just got a 96 jimmy. i want to lift it but i dont want to spend a lot to do it. I found a kit on ebay with new torsion keys ans shackles that are said to lift it a couple inches. i know that cranking the tbar will cause more wear to the ball joints, but will the new keys cuase wear also?

Read up in this section. You do not need new keys to tweak your suspension to the point of dramatically increased wear. A tbar crank can give you up to 2" additional lift (more if your torsion bars haven't relaxed much), but more than 1.5" lift in the front is asking for ball joint and CV shaft problems.

What swartikk said. Let me add that much more than the suggested 1-1.5" lift could cause you to remain out of alignment. I can't get aligned with more than about 1" of lift on my truck.

ive got keys that i purchased and have never installed them. i did adjust that t-bars and found that i was going through axels in less than a week at times. since then ive lowered my shackle lift and lowered the t-bars. i have still thought about putting the new keys in but would it be a waste of my time?
